Science Fiction can both inspire and caution us when we think about the power of our own hubris. One of my favorite parts of Science Fiction is the attempt to apply real rules of science to the fantasy. Interstellar did this with the idea of time travel married with general relativity - the idea that extreme gravity can slow the passage of time.
That concept captured my imagination big time. The idea of traveling through space while also time traveling was wild. Accidentally landing on a planet and costing yourself decades back on Earth was one of the biggest thrill rides I've ever experienced.
That very concept is the hallmark of Christian Ward and Sami Kivela's Forever Home. A scientist attempting to save a planet selfishly ends up protecting only what is his by creating a time-altering home. For every 20 minutes that passes inside the home, the world outside lives through an entire year.
Protecting and imprisoning his family, Henry D'Mour is desperately attempting to rebuild after the apocalypse. But can his family actually stay home... forever?
